Scripture Passage: James 1:19-20 NKJV

"So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath;" - Jam 1:19 NKJV

"for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God." - Jam 1:20 NKJV

S.O.A.P. (Scripture, Observation, Application, Prayer) Notes from my quiet time:

My Observation

In trials and tests, it is necessary to keep the way of God in outward and inward behavior.

My Application
  1. Enduring trials will lead to a crown of life
  2. Yielding to temptation will lead to death physically
  3. In the midst of trials and tests be slow to speak, swift to ear, and slow to anger
This was a very relevant to this past weekend. It was like my husband was getting on my nerves so easily. I could not get why I was so irritated with him. Now I see! Do not yield to the temptation to react in anger or irritation it is only a trial. I also kept my cool when my 8-month old went berserk on Sunday. Everything in the world happened as I was trying to leave for church. I did not sweat, cry, cuss, or slam anything--just kept my focus on God.

Good Morning Girls: Friday Message, January 28

James 1:12-18 Temptations, Desires and Sin

From the Good Morning Girls blog by Courtney: James 1:12-18 Temptations, Desires and Sin

Day 10 of the James Experience: Friday, January 28

Scripture Passage: James 1:18 NKJV (expanded)

"(a)Of His own will He brought us forth by the (b)word of truth, (c)that we
might be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures." - Jam 1:18 NKJV

Chapter References:

(a)John 1:13

"who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of
man, but of God." - Jhn 1:13 NKJV

(b)1Peter 1:3,23

"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His
abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection
of Jesus Christ from the dead," - 1Pe 1:3 NKJV

"having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the
word of God which lives and abides forever," - 1Pe 1:23 NKJV

(c)Ephesians 1:12,13

"that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory." -
Eph 1:12 NKJV

"In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your
salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit
of promise," - Eph 1:13 NKJV

PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER:

"who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of
man, but of God.

Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth,

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His
abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection
of Jesus Christ from the dead,

having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the
word of God which lives and abides forever,

that we might be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures.

that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory.

In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your
salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit
of promise,"

DECIPHERING THE CODE:

Who were born of His own will by the word of truth, has begotten us AGAIN, not
of corruptible seed, be a kind of FIRSTFRUITS, who FIRST trusted in Christ, were
SEALED with the Holy Spirit of PROMISE.

*******************************

What an awesome word this morning for us! We are a firstfruits through the
resurrection of Christ, simply because we believe in Him. God has also sealed
promises in us through this trust in Christ.

How powerful are we as believers? Lets use our power today to overcome
challenges presented to us.

Day 9: Thursday, January 27

Scripture passage: James 1:16-17 (various versions)

"Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren. Every good gift and every perfect
gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is
no variation or shadow of turning." James 1:16-17 New King James Version

VERSION: New Living Translation Bible"So don't be misled, my dear brothers and sisters. Whatever is good and
perfect comes to us from God above, who created all heaven's lights.* Unlike
them, he never changes or casts shifting shadows."

VERSION: Amplified Bible"Do not be misled, my beloved brethren. Every good gift and every perfect
([a]free, large, full) gift is from above; it comes down from the Father of all
[that gives] light, in [the shining of] Whom there can be no variation [rising
or setting] or shadow cast by His turning [as in an eclipse]."

VERSION: The Message Bible vs. 16-18"So, my very dear friends, don't get thrown off course. Every desirable and
beneficial gift comes out of heaven. The gifts are rivers of light cascading
down from the Father of Light. There is nothing deceitful in God, nothing
two-faced, nothing fickle. He brought us to life using the true Word, showing us
off as the crown of all his creatures."

I was fitting to see different versions of Gods word brought to light and
life. Its up to us to use it as Wisdom directs, without fear, reservation, or
lack of whatever. We move in Him who gives us the strength and know how to
proceed.

My Observation
It was recorded in Genesis that everything God made was good.

My Application
Regardless of how and when I used my gifts, God does not revoke perfection or
the giving of gifts because I don't utilize them. I must learn to use them with
His guidance.

My Prayer
Lord, give me courage to see past fear, frustration, and blocked vision. Give
me a clear description of my gifts and how I am supposed to use them.

Like the translation of the Message bible, I have been "off course" for a long
time.
