Week 5 - Day 21: Monday, February 14

Scripture Passage: James 2:14-17 NKJV

"What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, and one of you says to them, "Depart in peace, be warmed and filled," but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead." - Jam 2:14-17 NKJV

My Observation:
Faith without movement in "that" direction produces no outcome of desire.

My Application:
This reminds me of the cliche' "don't talk about it, be about it." Literally, if I want to help those God has put in my path, or if I've been given the gift of invention; I've got to make the necessary steps in the direction of those talents, gifts, and desires.

My Prayer:
Lord, keep me before courage. Help me change my thoughts and actions in stagnation. Its gone past procrastination to 'what if I fail because I just don't know?" Everything can be done in You. Allow me to see a glimpse of my future to give me hope.

Day 20: Friday, February 11

Scripture Passage: James 2:12-13 NKJV

"So speak and so do as those who will be judged by the law of liberty. For judgment is without mercy to the one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment." - Jam 2:12-13 NKJV

My Observation:
How do you expect something to be given to you and you have not given it?

My Application:
It reminds me of when the Word says in Luke 6:38 -

"Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you." - Luk 6:38 NKJV

I am to look for opportunities to give because my judgement will see that mercy speaks for me. God, not man, is my rewarder.

My Prayer:
Lord, in what areas can I give more? I want to see through Your eyes how to properly love without expectation from anyone but from Your bank of rewards, mercy, wisdom, knowledge, and courage.

Day 19: Thursday, February 10

Scripture Passage: James 2:8-11 NKJV

"If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself," you do well; but if you show partiality, you commit sin, and are convicted by the law as transgressors. For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all. For He who said, "Do not commit adultery," also said, "Do not murder." Now if you do not commit adultery, but you do murder, you have become a transgressor of the law." - Jam 2:8-11 NKJV

My Observation:
Its all of the Law or nothing, there is no picking anc shoosing what to obey.

My Application:
Gods word is not to be taken in convenience. Every word is to be acted by merit. Literally to change my behavior to be more like Christ.

My Prayer:
Lord, let my obedience honor You.

Women In The Word Wednesday

Day 18: Wednsday, February 9

Scripture Passage: James 2:5-7 NKJV

"Listen, my beloved brethren: Has God not chosen the poor of this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which He promised to those who love Him? But you have dishonored the poor man. Do not the rich oppress you and drag you into the courts? Do they not blaspheme that noble name by which you are called?" - Jam 2:5-7 NKJV

My Observation:
It is better to be poor and rich in faith, than riches and poor judgement.

My Application:
I still must strive to serve Gods chosen with the faith and certainty he will provideme the tools and knowledge to do so as he willed.

My Prayer:
Lord, give me courage to move forward with your plan and the power to create, to serve the people effectively.

Also as a recap for the S.O.A.P. journaling
during the James Study:

From the Good Morning Girls blog page -

Here I explain in greater detail what each section stands for, remember these are just guidelines to help you.

S- stands for “Scripture” you are to write out the verses in your own handwriting. By the end of our James study, you will have written out the WHOLE book of James! Also writing out the scripture helps you to understand it better and take a closer, slower look at the verses.

O- stands for “Observations“, what do you notice in this passage? You may want to summarize the verses in your own words, but most importantly write down what you hear God saying to you in these verses. What new observations or insights have you learned?

A- stands for “Application“, how can you apply what you just read to your life? Make it personal. Is there something that you need to change? Someone you need to forgive?

P- stands for “Prayer“, pray over what God has shown you today through His Word. Ask Him to help you live it out.

Thanks for making the time to be in God’s Word a priority in your life!

Learning to LOVE GOD GREATLY right along with you!!!
